A Flawless Fusion of Science & Arts

It’s an illusion that photos are made with the camera, they are made with the Light, Head and Heart.

Light is at the heart of photography. You can get wrapped up in countless other details, but in the end, it all comes back to light.

Light is everything in creating a successful image, it’s the light that determines not only brightness and darkness, but also tone, mood and the atmosphere with the vibrancy of color and luminosity on your subjects.

There can never be any Photography, without light.

Light is what we’re taking pictures of. We always take pictures of light. Isn’t it strange that we think we are taking picture of a subject? If we look more closely and attentively, we are taking the picture of light on them.
Think of any picture of your car, dog, loved ones, or anything that you have taken from your cell phone, camera, or any device with a lens. Now, for a moment ask yourself: have I taken a picture of them, or the light? Surely, you have taken a picture of the light on them. The only thing that cameras do is control the light: how to capture the light, at what intensity and what quantity of light to capture.

Photography is the flawless fusion of science & art

Let’s think about it: light is physics. On one hand, visible light is electromagnetic radiation within the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that can be perceived by the human eye, etc. On the other hand, camera is a piece of equipment, a mechanical device. Its sole purpose is to capture the quantity / quality of light at a perfect time, falling on the subject.  What you have caught on the picture shows our feelings, our love, our fears, and our secrets, which is totally emotional, irrespective of any right or wrong and it is captured forever. It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. In a nutshell, one can say that, physics and cameras affect us emotionally and force us to see the world in a different way. A photographic image is created by capturing different amounts of light reflected from the different parts of the scene. The subject of photography is just light that hits our eyes, our brain processes  a meaning, and we are trying to communicate our thoughts. The more you learn how to handle the light and capture the perfect amount, the smarter you can communicate it.

What do you see in this picture?

What I see is the combination of different amounts of light that perfectly falls on the subject to show the world: emotions, perspective, and soul.
In this world, photography is writing with light and poetry with the camera that puts human emotions, perspective, and soul into an image.

Light makes Photography!

Moon reflections on the Grate Salt Lake Utah
Super Moon at Antelope Island Utah

As I was standing there amazed watching the yellow light of the super moon with its utmost power, growing on the back of the Wasatch Mountain Range, offering a dramatic color contrast to the dark blue sky and the great Salt Lake, affecting my body and the lake. Since, our bodies are proportionally made up of so much water, it is easy to understand why the moon pulls and sways us just like the lake. How can something be so different but complete each other, like a powerful moon makes the softest palette in the world with the spirit of it’s light, enlightening my whole body until there is nothing but calmness.

Sunset in Mauna Kea
Gemini Observatory Sunset

A Journey to the top of this spectacular mountain having altitude of 4,207.3 m (13,803 ft) with the breathtaking sunset and stargaze at the heavens. No doubt, the biggest cliche is the sunset and the sunrise. Twilight colors from the summit of Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii, with the clear sky handling clouds on the bottom, uplifting me to feel the strong wind, dropped temperature, yet so relaxing to capture the perfect sunset light in an image. That moment my heart said a journey to the top of this spectacular mountain, leaving the world, sky and everything else behind was worth it!

Blue Hen Waterfalls
Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Blue Hen Falls

What is harder than rock? What is softer than water? Isn’t it amazing they’re totally opposite, yet praise each other in the natural light. If I could interpret my feelings, I would say I have never seen heaven like this before.Let the water flow in the light, embrace the rock with love. O Mother nature!

Local Cemetery
Local Cemetery: Right image / Light Painted Left Image / ambient light

Same camera, same lens, yet so different from each. How so?
Just because of light, the light is turning ordinary into magical. Photography is painting with light. You must understand the darkness, before you can appreciate the light.

Admire it. Love it. And above all, know light.
Know it for all you are worth and you will know the key to photography.
